2025 Nissan Kicks Play: Big Personality, Smart Practicality
A bold and connected crossover built for urban life

In a world of increasingly complicated crossovers, the 2025 Nissan Kicks Play proves that keeping things simple doesn’t mean sacrificing personality or practicality. This compact SUV delivers exactly what urban drivers want—standout style, real-world efficiency, and just the right amount of technology to make every drive more enjoyable. It’s a vehicle that’s easy to live with, easy to park, and easy on fuel, all while turning heads with its expressive design.

Available in S and SV trims, the Kicks Play adds expressive design touches that give it a youthful edge—two-tone colour options, gloss black mirrors, and unique badging help it stand out from the crowd. LED daytime running lights and a sculpted front grille highlight the Kicks’ modern styling, while its compact size keeps parking simple and manoeuvrability top-notch.

Powering the Kicks Play is a 1.6-litre DOHC 4-cylinder engine delivering 122 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with Nissan’s smooth and efficient Xtronic CVT, helping maintain momentum without the gear-hunting behaviour of some traditional automatics. The front-wheel-drive layout and responsive electric power steering make it feel agile and planted—ideal for navigating busy urban areas or confidently cruising at highway speeds.

Fuel economy is a standout. Official Canadian figures show a combined rating of 7.2 L/100 km, with 7.7 L/100 km in the city and 6.6 L/100 km on the highway. Combined with the Kicks’ compact curb weight and 41-litre fuel tank, that efficiency gives it an impressive real-world range—up to 570 km between fill-ups under ideal conditions, depending on driving habits and terrain.

Inside, the Kicks Play maximizes space with smart layout choices. There’s seating for five, with Nissan’s signature Zero Gravity front seats offering strong support and comfort. Materials are well-finished, especially on the SV trim, which includes contrast stitching and upgraded surfaces for a more refined feel. The rear seats fold in a 60/40 split, and with them lowered, cargo capacity expands to a full 915 litres. That’s plenty of space for groceries, luggage, or gear—especially impressive given the vehicle’s exterior footprint.

The Kicks Play S comes with a 7-inch infotainment display with Bluetooth and voice control. The SV trim upgrades to an 8-inch screen, adding wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ for seamless smartphone integration. Both trims include USB-A and USB-C ports for device charging. The S trim features a 4-speaker sound system, while the SV gets 6 speakers. Premium systems like Bose® with headrest speakers are not offered on the Play models, keeping the focus on clean, functional audio without added cost.

Safety is one of the Kicks Play’s strongest suits. Every model includes Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 suite: Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Automatic Braking, and High Beam Assist all come standard. The Intelligent Around View® Monitor is not included on Play models, but a rearview monitor and parking sensors provide all the assistance needed for tight spots. Additional driver aids like Hill Start Assist, Vehicle Dynamic Control, and Intelligent Driver Alertness give even more support, especially during longer drives.

Practical touches continue with features like push-button start and heated front seats on the SV trim, along with remote engine start and intelligent key access. The cabin offers plenty of storage cubbies and thoughtful placement of controls, making the Kicks Play a straightforward and pleasant environment for driver and passengers alike.

From its expressive exterior to its efficient performance and surprisingly spacious interior, the 2025 Nissan Kicks Play offers real value without feeling basic. It’s the kind of vehicle that adapts easily to city life, weekend adventures, and everything in between—combining safety, technology, and character in a smart, affordable crossover.
